WINDOW TINT SHADE GUIDE

FIND YOUR PERFECT TINT PERCENTAGE.

Tint percentage measures how much visible light passes through your windows. Lower numbers are darker. Compare the most popular shades before choosing the look for your vehicle.

70% VERY LIGHT
50% LIGHT
35% MEDIUM
20% DARK
5% VERY DARK
● Lower VLT = darker glass
QUICK ANSWER

Window tint percentage is Visible Light Transmission (VLT). A 70% tint allows much more visible light through than a 20% tint. A 5% film is extremely dark, while 70% is very light and can appear nearly clear. Your vehicle's existing glass can also affect the final measured VLT.

5% EXTREMELY DARK

Very dark, privacy-focused appearance commonly called limo tint.

20% DARK

Dark appearance often associated with factory-style privacy glass.

35% MEDIUM

A noticeable tint with substantially more visible light than darker shades.

50% LIGHT

A subtle tint for drivers who prefer a lighter overall appearance.

70% VERY LIGHT

Allows most visible light through and can appear nearly clear.

IMPORTANT

FACTORY GLASS CHANGES FINAL VLT.

The percentage printed on tint film isn't necessarily the final percentage measured on your vehicle. Automotive glass can already reduce visible light before film is installed. The existing glass and new film work together to determine the finished VLT.
